SAR 917 million for the Grand Mosque in Diriyah

The Grand Mosque is one of Diriyah's largest mosques, in the project's second phase where the main boulevard meets Wadi Hanifah. It holds 11,400 worshippers (5,240 in the prayer hall and 6,160 in the outdoor courtyards) and has a gross floor area of 12,320 m².

WHY IT MATTERS

Let me explain

The design, by X Architects, is contemporary Najdi: thick lattice walls with triangular openings that filter the light, shaded courtyards and walkways stepping down to the edge of the wadi, and a stacked minaret. Construction is by a consortium of Al-Majal El-Arabi Group and MAN Enterprise AlSaudia under a SAR 917 million contract. Progress reached 21% in March 2026, and completion is expected in 2028.
